A woman is found by the side of a well-travelled road. It takes days before anyone sees her and by that time it’s too late. Crime Stoppers needs your help to solve the tragic death of Shaminder Brar.
The 34-year-old Abbotsford resident was last seen alive on Feb. 16, 2013 at 8 p.m. Her body was discovered in a ditch off Riverside Road two days later.
Police believe Brar was the victim of a hit and run. They’re asking the driver to have the courage to come forward.
“Diligence was not exercised in checking after there was either the sound of impact or the feeling of impact, but we are imploring them to now answer some questions, obviously for police and for the benefit of this now grieving family,” said Cst. Ian MacDonald of Abbotsford Police.
Brar was a happy child and teenager, but faced several challenges in adulthood. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. She also battled addiction. But that didn’t stop her from having many caring friends.
Brar’s family and friends say she didn’t deserve to die alone by the side of the road. They’re urging anyone with information on this case to call police or, if you wish to remain anonymous, visit bccrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
