WATCH: Train conductor blocks traffic to pick up lunch

Getting stuck in traffic is always a frustrating situation. But one motorist was shocked when he saw why.

Robert Stahl of South Bay, California noticed a Union Pacific freight train stopped in its tracks, blocking an intersection.

He then spotted a Union Pacific employee inside the diner on the corner.

Stahl pulled out his phone to record what he saw.

“I couldn’t believe it!” Stahl told CBS. “Couldn’t believe he was ruining everybody’s day and stopping us because he was hungry.”

The footage shows a train engineer leaving the diner with what appears to be a bag of food before he hops back on the train.

Stahl, who is an optometrist, says he was especially annoyed because he had a waiting patient.

However, looking back on it he says “it was pretty humorous.”

But many people aren’t laughing.

Union Pacific said in a statement to CBS that management is planning to take “appropriate disciplinary action.”

That has caused critics of Stahl to speak out against his actions. His practice’s online pages are filled with negative comments and reviews because of this story.

Stahl says he isn’t too concerned about whether the train engineer will be disciplined or not.

“Should this guy get in trouble? At the time, yes. At this point, whatever. Life’s too short to be upset about something like this.”
