TORONTO – Documentaries about Leonard Cohen’s son Adam and the life of comic Shaun Majumder are among the projects getting financial help from the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and Shaw Media.
“Adam Cohen: The Family Business” follows the younger Cohen’s efforts to find his own musical voice.

Meanwhile “This Tour Has 22 Cities,” co-executive produced by Allan Hawco of “Republic of Doyle,” focuses on Majumder’s life and career and includes standup material.
The films are among 11 projects getting grants and no-interest loans from the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Documentary Funds.

The funds are meant to give Canadian documentary filmmakers financial support at critical stages in their projects.
Other projects include “Ariel,” about a mechanical engineer who lost his legs and is now working to revolutionize prosthetics; “Semisweet,” about the rich world of chocolate; “The Adventures Of Dr. Crackhead,” about a recovering addict; and “Reasonable Doubt,” about a troubled teen who began writing letters to a prison inmate.
