TORONTO – A woman has been found dead following an apartment fire on Danforth Ave. early Monday morning.
Toronto Fire Services say the fire broke out just after 2 a.m. at a unit located between Monarch Park Ave. and Greenwood Ave.
Crews arrived to find a body in the bedroom of a 3rd floor apartment above a store. The person was pronounced dead on scene.
“We do know that there was a smoke alarm that we can see still there in the unit. Whether it was sounding or not, we’re not sure,” said Division Commander Bob O’Hallarn.
The identity and age of the victim has not been released.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in for the investigation.
