REGINA – A 27-year-old man is facing several charges in connection with the discovery of a marijuana growing operation in Regina Thursday night.
Just before 8:00 p.m. police were called to a residence in the 2200 block of Broder St. after complaints of a possible domestic assault.
They arrived to find an agitated, partially clothed man inside the home, with blood on his body and holding a cell phone. The man’s injury was determined to be self-inflicted.
Two knives, one of which was a prohibited “butterfly”-style knife, were also found at the scene.
A search of the home revealed that no one else was inside, but also revealed evidence of drug production, including marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a locked room.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators discovered a marijuana grow operation consisting of 46 plants.
Wesley Thomas Hicke of Regina has been charged with unlawfully producing a controlled substance, possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.
