Canada gets ABC Spark on the television dial on March 26

TORONTO – ABC Spark ignites in Canada on March 26.

The 24-hour channel, based on the U.S. brand ABC Family, will feature series including “The Secret Life of the America Teenager,” “Switched at Birth,” “Melissa & Joey” and “Make It or Break It.”

It will also air the new show “Jane By Design,” with Andie MacDowell and newcomer Erica Dasher.

Corus Entertainment, which struck the deal with Disney/ABC Television Group to add the new channel, says ABC Spark will have “the same values, look, tone, essence and feel” of ABC Family.

A sneak peek of “Switched at Birth” begins Jan. 16 on YTV and will air every Monday night, while W Network will preview the show Saturdays starting Jan. 21.

“Melissa & Joey” offers advance screenings Monday to Friday starting Jan. 16 on CMT.

Corus says the new channel targets viewers between the ages of 15 and 34 and will feature original series and movies, as well as general entertainment programming.
