Government sources confirmed to Global News the PM will attend the game but it’s not known if Harper will wear white to be part of the ‘whiteout’.

Harper wrote a book about the history of hockey in Canada and is well known as a big fan of the game.

Harper was part of the crowd at MTS Centre in 2011 for the Jets’ first game after the NHL’s return to Winnipeg and attended another game in November 2013.

The prime minister will remain in Winnipeg Thursday for a photo op and announcement at a company that makes cabinets, counters and other millwork during the day; and a speech in the evening at the Victoria Inn.
