LEGO store planned for Winnipeg? Awesome!

WINNIPEG – LEGO is assembling the staff it needs to start up a store in Winnipeg, which would be “awesome” for fans of the iconic toy blocks.

The Danish toy block manufacturer has job postings on its website for “Retail Store Manager – Winnipeg’ and ‘Retail Assistant Store Manager – Winnipeg'”. A company spokesperson confirmed to Global News Monday that a Winnipeg store is planned for 2015, but had no details on where it will be located.

There are already nine LEGO stores in Canada, but none in Manitoba. Around the world there are more than 90 stores devoted to the plastic building blocks, which have been sold since 1958.

The popularity of the toys skyrocketed in 2014 with the release of The LEGO Movie and its theme song “Everything is Awesome.”
