WINNIPEG – A very loud True North was shouted during the anthem at a special assembly at West St.Paul school.
Around 500 students decked out in white packed the gymnasium for a pep rally of sorts to cheer on the Jets ahead of the first NHL playoff game in Winnipeg since 1996.
The students weren’t even born then.
Staff felt it was important to teach the students about the whiteout tradition and even played a video about it.
“There will be a lot of tired students and teachers tomorrow,” said Bob McIntosh, the principal at West St.Paul school.
The students even signed a good luck card that was presented to a True North Sports and Entertainment employee.
