SIU investigating after collision in Brampton leaves two men in hospital

BRAMPTON, Ont. – Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a single-vehicle collision in Brampton left two men in hospital.

The Special Investigations Unit says that a Peel Regional Police officer was investigating a vehicle (near Clark Blvd. and Heart Lake Road South) at about 12:20 a.m. on Sunday.

The SIU says the vehicle then fled the scene and was later found (on Rutherford Rd. South) after it had collided with a hydro pole.

Both men in the vehicle were taken to hospital and the SIU says the passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries but did not comment on the extent of the driver’s injuries.

The SIU investigates when there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault involving police.
