TORONTO – Japanese airliner All Nippon Airways (ANA) launched a new Star Wars jetliner project in honour of the popular movie series.
As part of the five-year project, ANA will paint a new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in R2-D2 graphic design.
“In the long adventurous journey, R2-D2 reached a unique personality. Highly loyal and whenever he faces [a] challenge, he comes up with an original idea to succeed the mission,” ANA said on its website.
Design photos show the plane painted with blue and white stripes resembling the famous droid’s colour scheme.
ANA said the “R2-D2 Jet” will take off this fall.
