REGINA – The flip-flop from the Saskatchewan government on stripping in the province is complete, with regulations now officially in place.

Stripping is again prohibited in liquor-licensed establishments across Saskatchewan.

Wall told reporters earlier this year it was “the wrong decision” to make changes that made it legal to strip in bars, citing the potential for increases in human trafficking, sexual exploitation and organized criminal activity.

Stripping will now only be allowed in limited special use locations like theaters/concert halls, casinos and exhibition facilities.

Communities in the province without these types of special facilities can still hold an event but would need a special occasion permit.

Also, these events can only happen once per year per establishment and must be for a charitable/community cause.

“We know in the past that there have been some performances that have served as fundraising events for very worthy causes,” Minister responsible for SLGA Don McMorris said.

“In drafting these regulations, we wanted to take a common sense approach that would allow these types of events to continue to occur, but on a very limited basis and not as the main focus of a business.”

The province will be sending out notices of the changes to all 1,900 commercial liquor permit holders in the next few days.
