GardenWorks: Colourful spring planter

Leanne and Peter of GardenWorks got together to plant a lovely pot filled with colourful blooms, perfect for Easter and the start of spring.

Using a 9-inch terracotta pot, Peter filled the bottom of the pot with some GardenWorks potters blend soil while Leanne sprinkled in a scoop of 14-14-14 fertilizer to help nourish the plants.

They filled the pot with a wonderful assortment of annuals and perennials that will bloom through spring and into the summer.

This particular pot featured the following plants:

English Daisy (Bellis perennis) This easy to grow perennial prefers a partly sunny area and thrives in pots with well-drained soil.

The garden pansy is a large-flowered hybrid that was cultivated from Melanium (“the pansies”) and Violas. This sun or partial shade lover comes in an assortment of stunning colours, many of which are tri-coloured and make for a spectacular addition to any spring planter.

Finally the anemone: Peter and Leanne chose the poppy-flowered anemone (Anemone coronaria). The anemone bloom sits atop a long stem that gently sways over the other flowers. Plant it in a partially sunny area with some well-drained soil and it will continue to bloom happily throughout the spring.
