Emergency crews rescue woman stuck in mud

WINNIPEG — Emergency crews were dealing with a water rescue on the banks of the Assiniboine River Friday night.

Crews were called to the Maryland Bridge around 7 p.m. after two people were trapped in the mud along the banks.

It appears the pair got stuck in the deep mud at the bridge on Maryland Street over the Assiniboine River.

Reports from the scene suggest that one woman was trapped and a Samaritan tried to free her, and ended up also sinking into the muddy banks of the Assiniboine.

Crews were able to rescue both and pull them to safety.

Initial reports indicate there were no injuries.
