Harry Hays building evacuated due to bomb threat

CALGARY – Hundreds of employees were forced from the Harry Hays building in downtown Calgary on Thursday due to a bomb scare.

The federal building was evacuated around 9 a.m. after a bomb threat was called in to police by an unknown male.

Officers closed the roads surrounding the building (Riverfront Avenue S.E., 4th Avenue S.E. and 1st Street S.E.) as a precautionary measure.

The Calgary Police Service’s bomb technicians were called in to search the building, but say nothing suspicious was ever located.

Area roads were then re-opened to traffic.
