ABOVE VIDEO: Extended video of Walter Scott shooting released (WARNING: Viewer discretion advised) 

TORONTO – An extended version of a video that captured the moment officer South Carolina police Michael Slager shot and killed unarmed man Walter Scott shows the cop pick an item up off the ground and put it in his possession before checking the victim’s pulse.

The video was released by Feidin Santana and by a lawyer representing the Scott family.

Slager, 33, faces murder charges for the weekend shooting of the 50-year-old man and has been terminated from the police force.

Initial reports indicated Slager and Scott fought over the officer’s Taser – an altercation that’s not seen in the video. Questions have been raised over the alleged use of a stun gun.

In the extended edit of the video, a black object is seen falling between the two men and hitting the ground as Scott turned away and started running from the officer.

It’s unclear whether or not the object was a stun gun.

Slager then fired eight shots at the fleeing man.

Later in the video, the officer is seen walking back to where the altercation began and then back to the body.

The extended video shows the officer picking up something next Scott before checking the man’s pulse a short time later.

It’s unclear if  the officer picked up and moved the object closer to the body.

The FBI and state investigators are now looking at the video as part of their investigation.
