Woman dies after being struck by bicycle in north Edmonton

EDMONTON – A 65-year-old woman died in hospital Tuesday night after she was hit by a bicycle in north Edmonton.

Police are reporting a 55-year-old man was riding a bicycle on a service road near 82 Street Tuesday afternoon when it struck the woman as she was crossing the road at 128A Avenue.

The woman was knocked down and sustained serious injuries. She was treated and taken to hospital where she passed away that evening.

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Unit is looking into the collision.

Charges have not been laid against the cyclist.

Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors, according to police.
