CALGARY – WinSport Canada has announced details of its Passport to Sport initiative aimed at reigniting interest in winter sports.
Some high profile Olympians will be on hand to help with the effort. Calgarians who have dreamed of being an Olympian or simply want a taste will have the chance to do so in the New Year. The one-day multi-sport clinic will allow participants to train with current and past Olympians.
Available sports will include ski jumping, luge, and skeleton.

Gold medal winner and skeleton racer Jon Montgomery will attend the event on January 2nd. He says while some of the sports look extreme, everyone will be in good hands.
“You have to be able to see it for first hand and realize that the geometry of the track is designed to keep you within its confines. I got hurt much worse playing hockey,” says Montgomery. “It is by far one of the safest sports that I’ve participated in. The only thing that is dangerous is perception.”
“Don’t be worried moms and dads; get your kids into skeleton racing.”
The event will take place on Monday, January 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Canada Olympic Park.
The event is free with a hill ticket.
