Let us know: Traffic hacks to beat Toronto congestion nightmares

TORONTO – The latest TomTom Traffic Index indicates traffic congestion levels are rising in Toronto and there’s no easy fix.

The study conducted by the Dutch navigation company shows the congestion level has increased by 4 per cent from 27 per cent in 2013 to 31 per cent in 2014 — now ranking second in Canada behind Vancouver with an overall level of 35 per cent.

But savvy and experienced motorists familiar with Toronto’s roadways might be more adept at avoiding congestion altogether — or least help alleviate some of the driving stress with simple “traffic hacks.”

A recent illustration posted on social media site Reddit shows how a driver can maneuver the tricky left turn from eastbound Harbour St. to Yonge St. north or Lake Shore Blvd. E. by simply avoiding the bottleneck by making a sharp left turn at the stop sign instead.
