MIAMI – Police in Miami, Fla., say a woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left a 23-year-old Canadian tourist in critical condition.
Miami-Dade police Det. Daniel Ferrin says a 26-year-old woman turned herself in Monday, accompanied by her lawyer.
Police said Alexander Sanghwan – listed as being from Ontario – was walking on the edge of a road around 5:30 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene.
Ferrin says Olivia Bennett, of Miami Beach, Fla., is charged with two felonies – leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and reckless driving with serious bodily injury.
He says Bennett has been released on a bond.
Sanghwan, who suffered multiple injuries, remains in critical condition.
His family members have told local media that he was visiting Florida to attend the 2015 Ultra Music Festival in downtown Miami.
