CALGARY – Former Wildrose MLA Bruce McAllister has been acclaimed as the Progressive Conservative candidate for Chestermere-Rocky View.
Late Saturday night McAllister was appointed after the PC Alberta Nomination Committee’s decision to block competitor Jamie Lall, CEO of the Calgary Housing and Employment Services, from running.
The news came in a party press release from PC Alberta president Terri Beaupre.
McAllister joined former Wildrose leader Danielle Smith in crossing the floor to the ruling Tories last year.
Jamie Lall wrote the following statement on being disallowed to run in the Chestermere-Rocky View PC nomination;
“Last night I was informed that my candidacy in the Progressive Conservative nomination in Chestermere-Rocky View was disallowed. While I am extremely disappointed by this latest development I will not be making any further comment until I have time to process the events of last night,” Lall wrote.
“Together my team and I sold over 1000 memberships and made people excited to be part of the process, from new members to existing members we made people excited to be a PC once again. At the end of the day I am most disappointed that the people of Chestermere-Rocky View were robbed of their right to participate in the democratic process.”
Lall was a candidate for the PCAA in 2012 in Calgary-Buffalo and is the president of the Calgary-McCall PC Association.
