WATCH: Meatballs laced with drugs found in Utah dog owner’s yard

It was another routine day for the Tovey family until they found meatballs laced with pills in their backyard on Monday in Sandy, Utah.

“I feel like it’s a targeted thing on my dog,” owner Drew Tovey told KSL.

Tovey says his 7-year-old pit bull is a trained, well behaved dog and very friendly, so he was shocked when his son found the five drugged meatballs.

Five to six pills were inside each meatball, including extra-strength Tylenols.

Dr. Marcel Lee, a veterinarian a South Valley Animal Hospital explained the dosage could have been lethal.

“That would have been drastic for that animal,” explained Lee.

The family’s home borders a walking trail, which is from where Tovey believes the culprit threw the meatballs.

On his Facebook page, Tovey expressed his anger writing, “Some Dil-Hole attempted to kill my dog this afternoon…I sure hope I can find this chicken****… I’d like to have some words with them.”

An investigation by animal services and Sandy City police is underway
