HALIFAX – Police said Wednesday that an incident last week where shots were reportedly fired at a Halifax Transit bus was not a shooting.
Officers responded around midnight on March 18 to the 7100 block of Chebucto Road after a bus driver said he thought a shot had been fired at his bus.
He told police a vehicle had cut him off near the Armdale Rotary and then pulled over when the bus reached Chebucto Road, and that’s when he heard the shot.
Police were unable to find the vehicle or the driver, and no bullet hole was found on the bus.
After reviewing surveillance footage, police determined that when the vehicle stopped on Chebucto Road, its male driver got out and threw a chunk of snow or ice at the bus.
Investigators are still looking to speak to the driver, who is described as a white man in his 30s, and was wearing a yellow vest, dark pants and a dark jacket at the time. He was driving a red pickup truck with a yellow plow on the front, a salt-spreader on the back and a yellow light on the roof.
Anybody with information is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
