Officials say the new entertainment district will be a huge draw not just for the people of Penticton but for the region.

Penticton mayor Dan Ashton says the new theatre will help revitalize the city’s downtown core and show residents that Penticton is open for business.

The new cinema will replace the Pen-Mar, which was built in the 1950s.

The theatre is expected to open next summer.
