UPDATE: West Edmonton death deemed homicide, victim identified

EDMONTON — A death in west Edmonton last weekend has been determined to be Edmonton’s fifth homicide of the year.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Tuesday and determined the death of Casey Darrell Crier, 29, was a homicide. The cause of his death hasn’t been released.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate. Acting Staff Sgt. Michael Dreilich said police were called to Briarwynd Court in the Thorncliff neighbourhood around 8:20 a.m. Sunday. Officers found Crier’s body inside a suite near 81 Avenue and 178 Street.
