MONTREAL – A 48-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after a shooting in the northeast Montreal neighbourhood of Villeray Tuesday night.

Montreal police confirmed that a shot was fired on Jarry Street near Chambord Street just before 9 p.m.

A burned vehicle that had been reported stolen was found less than a kilometre away about a half an hour later.

Although “usually the signature of certain criminal groups,” police spokesperson, Yanick Ouimet, says that it is too early to confirm whether it is connected to the attempted murder.

The police currently have no suspects, although they have confirmed that the victim was known to police and was specifically targeted.

Le Journal de Montréal has reported that the name of the victim is Antonio Pietrantonio.
