EDMONTON — Transit buses will replace LRT service at times this weekend to allow for testing of the new signalling system. However, service will be restored Saturday night to take Oilers’ fans to and from the game.

On Saturday, Capital Line LRT – which runs from Clareview to Century Park – will be shut down until 5 p.m. Bus route 505 will replace trains during that time and buses will stop at every station, running every five minutes.

Test trains will be running on the street level portions of the Metro Line and the Capital Line during the shutdown this weekend. Pedestrians and motorists must still obey traffic signs and signals.

The new LRT signalling system will allow trains on the new Metro Line and the existing Capital Line to safely share the same tracks between Health Sciences/Jubilee Station and Churchill Station. The city remains optimistic that the Metro Line will open this spring.
