WATCH: Biker performs stunts, taunts police during high-speed chase

WATCH ABOVE: Originally wanted for reckless driving, a motorcycle rider led police on a daring chase Wednesday evening. Crystal Cruz reports.

TORONTO – A California man has been taken into custody after leading police in a high-speed pursuit while he performed stunts on a motorcycle.

Phillip Resendez, 22, of Rancho Cucamunga was already wanted for reckless driving when police began to pursue him Wednesday evening in Highland.

Resendez bobbed and weaved through traffic at speeds up to 100 mph as he challenged police to follow. At one point, KCAL’s helicopter camera showed the suspect taunting police by motioning to hurry up. He even managed to park for a brief moment, adjust a pair of headphones, and go around a police cruiser to take off all over again.

But it was a daredevil-like stunt that had many shaking their heads when Resendez stood on the seat of his motorcycle to perform a “Christ” stunt, extending both his arms out to make the shape of a cross.

“He’s doing a lot of showboating,” Stu Mundel could be heard saying from KCAL’s helicopter.

After a lengthy pursuit, the suspect suddenly gave up and pulled into a gas station where he was finally caught by authorities who he alleges mistreated him.

“Did he (police officer) seriously have to try and kick me off my bike?’ Resendez said in an NBC report.

CBS reporter Crystal Cruz questioned Resendez as he was being led away in handcuffs but he only had one message.

“I just wanna say that I love my family and my two baby girls,” he told Cruz before sitting in the back seat of a police cruiser. “And I’m sorry that I disappointed them in the middle of all of this.”

Resendez was arrested by the San Bernadino County Sheriff’s Department and charged with failure to yield and driving on the wrong side of the road, according to CBS.
