A section of the mall was closed as the Edmonton Police Service Bomb Detail and Tactical Squad investigated the suspicious package.

Officers determined after an hour that the mysterious box left on a bench outside a sports store in Phase III was a DVD player.

All entrances to the mall were open once it was determined the package was not a threat.
