Demolition started on the historic Farnam Block in Saskatoon on Wednesday, even though local investors were still trying to work out a deal to save the building. The 103-year-old landmark has sat vacant for almost two years since Lydia’s Pub closed in 2013, and the new owners have said that renovation would not be feasible possible.

An online petition to save the building drew hundreds of signatures, but demolition crews are onsite today.
