Man escapes flaming house on Saskatchewan First Nation

ROSE VALLEY, Sask. – Mounties are investigating a house fire on a Saskatchewan reserve that happened Saturday. At around 3:45 p.m., RCMP were called to a residence on the Yellow Quill First Nation.

Officers arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames. A man, who had been inside the residence, had already exited the property prior to police arrival.

RCMP say after ensuring there were no other occupants inside the house, the scene was secured.

EMS assessed the man who suffered minor smoke/fire related injuries. He has since received medical treatment and been released from hospital.

Representatives from provincial rapid response, the office of the fire commissioner, SaskPower and SaskEnergy were called out to assist with fire suppression efforts.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Yellow Quill First Nation is approximately 195 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
