VANCOUVER – Athletes competing for Team BC at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George took a moment on Wednesday to join the Pink Shirt Day movement and stand up against bullying.

“I’m proud of the impact Pink Shirt Day has had in raising awareness about bullying in B.C. – but we have a lot more work to do,” said Premier Christy Clark. “We all need to do our part in making clear that we won’t tolerate bullying in our schools, homes and workplaces.”

Team BC athletes and coaches consider themselves role models and leaders in their sport and communities and wanted to get together to spread the message that bullying will not be tolerated.

“Team BC makes it a priority at every Games to think beyond the competition and to contribute to a social legacy,” said Rob Needham, Team BC Chef de Mission. “Seeing Team BC sporting pink instead of blue today at the Canada Winter Games will make a strong statement of the importance of this campaign and to stand up against bullying.”
