Sightings of the truck were reported from Langley to Pitt Meadows at speeds of up to 100 km/h. One witness shot footage of a red truck swerving through traffic and speeding through a red light.
“Both Coquitlam and Langley RCMP officers deployed spike belts numerous times to try and slow or stop the vehicle safely,” says Sergeant Annie Linteau, spokesperson for Lower Mainland RCMP.
“Unfortunately, the driver continued to drive dangerously, at times into incoming traffic.”
The driver is known to police as a prolific offender and appeared in court on Thursday.
