Each screen portrayed a character singing and dancing, each piping out its own distinctive sound.

The handsets were separated into four sections of vocal range – soprano, alto, tenor and bass.

While the chorus started with a traditional version of “Ode to Joy”, the music soon eventually evolved into a more modern break-beat variation.

The installation also included a sensor, enabling shoppers to “conduct” the choir – the bigger the arm gestures, the more handsets joined in.
