REGINA – It was the highest number of babies born in Saskatchewan in nearly a quarter century and the popular names are still favourites among parents. Liam was the most popular baby name for boys and Emma topped the list for girls in 2014.
eHealth Saskatchewan released statistics on the top 20 baby names Wednesday, with 79 baby boys named Liam and 75 girls named Emma.
Liam has now topped the list for half-a-decade while Emma has been the most popular for six years.
Last year, the second most popular names were William and Noah for boys and Olivia for girls. Carter and Sophia took second place in 2013.

By law, every child born in Saskatchewan must be registered with eHealth within 15 days of birth.
Nearly 15,800 babies were born in the province in 2014, which is the highest number registered since 1990.
