VANCOUVER – A 51-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a SUV Monday night.
The collision occurred at East 6th Avenue and Keith Drive just after 11 p.m. When officers arrived they found the woman and she was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. It is believed she was crossing East 6th when she was hit.
Police say she later died in hospital.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police.
Investigators say the darkness and wet weather likely contributed to the collision, but speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, who has not yet spoken to police, is asked to call the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
This is Vancouver’s third traffic related fatality in 2015.
