MONTREAL — McGill University’s Royal Victoria College Residence, an historic greystone building at the corner of University and Sherbrooke Streets, was evacuated Tuesday after flames were spotted on the building’s roof.
About 20 vehicles and 50 firefighters were called to the scene.
The four-storey building houses about 270 students.
Authorities confirmed that the buildings’ alarms were working, and students and staff were evacuated from the building without a problem.
Everyone was accounted for, and there were no reported injuries.
