WATCH: Two Brazilians sucked underwater by storm drain

TORONTO – A pair of Brazilians are lucky to be alive after getting sucked inside a storm drain during an effort to unclog it.

Patricia Rosa posted an incredible video Wednesday to YouTube that shows a group of Brazilian men, in the country’s southern region of Rio Grande do Sul, attempting to unclog a drain that had caused flooding on nearby land.

reported nine-year-old boy can be seen taking part – even jumping up and down to move what appears to be a large amount of vegetation.

But as the water finally rushes down the hole, the boy and another man go with it. The Independent reports that the man is actually the boy’s uncle.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Onlookers gasped as they feared the worst – looking for any sign of the pair. But, seconds later, the boy can be seen with his arms raised triumphantly in the air to celebrate the death-defying stunt.

The boy can be heard shouting in his native Portuguese tongue, “I’m alive! I’m alive!”

The pair were certainly alive and the nine-year-old was full of laughter. However, his uncle looked exhausted and shaken up.

“Thank God everything worked out, the two are well with some bruises,” Rosa said in a translated comment on the YouTube post.
