TORONTO – Things have gotten so bad for the Toronto Maple Leafs that parody videos are now beginning to sprout up on YouTube.
The latest viral hit comes from a parody of A Great Big Word’s – “Say Something” chart topper by Toronto recording artist Steven Ryan.
In it, Ryan steps in front of a camera positioned in a bedroom adorned with Leafs memorabilia and a microphone stand.
The singer then begins belting out lyrics criticizing the team’s struggles and poor play.
The Buds are currently mired in a 10-game losing streak that has tied a franchise record.
“You been losing them all, Clarkson will stumble and fall,” Ryan proclaims. “Gave away Tuukka Rask, we made the wrong call.”
Even Leafs’ leading scorer Phil Kessel isn’t spared in the spoof.
“Kessel alone cannot get us through,” Ryan sings. “Optimus-Reim what happened to you? Trade someone I’m giving up on you.”
The Leafs hope to snap their winless streak on Friday when they face off against the Devils in New Jersey.
By the way, here are the full lyrics to the song:
Do something I’m giving up on you
Saturday nights with the white and blue
Anywhere you played I followed you
Do something I’m giving up on you
And I… Cannot recall… That last time you won a game
You’ve been losing them all
Clarkson… Will stumble and fall
Gave away Tuukka Rask
We made the wrong call
Trade someone I’m giving up on you
Kessel alone cannot get us through
Optimus-Reim what happened to you
Trade someone I’m giving up on you
And I… will swallow my pride
You’re the team that I love
So I won’t say goodbye
Win for once I’m giving up on you
Can’t forget game seven that you blew
That 4-1 lead should have got us through
Wooahh oo waooaooh
Carlyle we’ve had Phaneuf of you
Do something I’m giving up on you
Do something… Please
