WATCH: See why some parents are angry about a Cub Scout nature walk that got a little to “au naturel”
TORONTO – Parents are angry after a pack of Cub Scouts in San Diego wandered onto a nudist beach last week.
According to CBS, the Cub Scouts were supposed to be on a nature hike through Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve but ended up walking on a trail that led to Black’s Beach, a known nudist beach.
The hike prompted Diane Lekven and her husband Erik, who both attended the hike, to file a formal complaint to the scouting council after their fourth grade son saw “far too much.”

“It was like a nightmare in my opinion,” Lekven told CBS. “When I got up there I said ‘hey what are you doing? We’re in the middle of a nudist beach.’”
The mother claimed the pack master knew exactly where he was taking the group.
“He said ‘this is a naturalist beach, and my family and I go through here all the time. It’s not a big deal.’ And I got really angry,” Lekven said.
“I was nauseated, I’ve never seen just a bunch of nude people walking around holding hands… strange people I don’ t know.”
In a statement, the Boy Scouts said they worked “quickly” to reroute the pack.
“During a planned hiking trip at Torrey Pines State Beach, a local Cub Scout Pack encountered some individuals who were inappropriately dressed. This outing, involving both parents and adult volunteer leaders, was quickly rerouted to protect the youth,” the statement reads.
“Following the trip, both San Diego-Imperial Council and Pack leadership met with parents to discuss the events and determine if further action was needed. Together we concluded that proper protocol had been observed and appropriate steps were taken in this matter.”
