WINNIPEG – Humphrey, the 15-month-old brother of Hudson, will be joining the polar bears at Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg.
Humphrey, like his brother, was born at the Toronto Zoo, which runs a polar bear breeding program. Hudson, who was born in October 2011, moved from Toronto to the Winnipeg zoo in January 2013.

Humphrey will first live at the zoo’s International Polar Bear Conservation Centre, where he will eventually be introduced to the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s two other cubs, Blizzard and Star. The three cubs will eventually join polar bears Hudson, Storm, Aurora and Kaska as residents of the 10-acre Journey to Churchill exhibit, which contains several polar bear areas and is the centrepiece of the Winnipeg zoo.
“He’s just as lovable as his older brother Hudson and we can’t wait for the community to meet him,” said Dr. Brian Joseph, director of zoological operations at Assiniboine Park. Hudson was the first polar bear to live at the zoo since Debby died in 2008 when she was 42 years old.
