After less than two years in business on the Esplanade Riel Bridge their revenues were not enough to cover the expenses of operating the restaurant.

Chez Sophie’s owners originally signed a five year agreement paying two thousand dollars a month. Their first month was free after spending $200 thousand on renovations.

This is the second restaurant that didn’t survive the low traffic spot. A Salisbury House previously held the high profile restaurant spot but closed its doors five years after it opened when the city didn’t renew the lease.
