Canada Winter Games 2015: All eyes on Prince George

VANCOUVER – The Canada Winter Games 2015 runs from Feb. 13 to March 1 in Prince George, B.C.

Thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators from across Canada will descend on the city for the largest ever multi-sport and cultural event to be held there.

Prince George is the first city in B.C. to host a winter edition of the games.

Athletes will compete in sports from alpine skiing and archery to synchronized swimming and wheelchair basketball.

The games often pave the way for Canada’s athletes of the future. Some of the best sports stars to ever come out of Canada got their start at the Canada Games, including Sidney Crosby, Steve Nash, Hayley Wickenheiser and Catriona Le May Doan.

Global News will be covering the games, from the opening to the closing ceremonies, and events in between. Sports anchor and reporter Jay Janower will be in Prince George for the duration of the games and will be bringing us live coverage of the events and the athletes.
