WATCH: A dog is safe and resting comfortably after a dramatic river rescue in Los Angeles on Friday.
A dog that got caught in the rain-swollen Los Angeles River was saved on Friday in a dramatic airborne rescue.
The animal was spotted in the raging river as a sudden thunderstorm swept the San Fernando Valley.
A firefighter was lowered from a helicopter into the river to save the dog.
Witnesses said the dog was swept around 1.5 km downriver.
The dog, a Shiba Inu, was taken to a shelter because it had no identification on its collar.
Officials say it was a little shaken, but in good health, following the rescue.
