VANCOUVER – A 17-year-old boy is recovering today after allegedly being assaulted at a bus stop on Hastings Street Saturday night.
Around 9:30 p.m. police say the teen was standing at the rear doors of an eastbound Hastings Street bus with his backpack and skateboard. When the bus stopped at Renfrew Street, the boy was allegedly pulled from the bus by a much larger man who began punching him in the face. The teen was knocked to the ground and says the suspect threatened him.
The man then took the victim’s backpack and skateboard and told him to leave. When he returned a short time later, the suspect was still at the bus stop and that is when the teen called the police.
The boy suffered bruises and a cut to his face.
The suspect was described as Caucasian, 40-years-old, 6 feet tall and about 220 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black leather jacket, blue jeans and black Adidas runners.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police at (604) 717-3321 or Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
