WATCH: Hillary Clinton imitates Putin, jokes about Russian democracy

WINNIPEG – Hillary Clinton got laughs from a Winnipeg crowd Wednesday as she joked about how Russian President Vladimir Putin secured his third term.

“If, for some reason, you decided to be leader of the United States – or actually, run for that, because there is a process,” the moderator said to her.

“Yeah, there is a process. It’s not like Putin,” Clinton replied as the audience laughed.

“I mean, you can imagine the conversation with Putin,” she continued, then imitated a Russian conversation.

“ ‘Vladimir, you think you’d like to be president again?’

“ ‘I think I would, actually.’

“ ‘Why don’t we just go announce it. We’ll tell Dmitry (Medvedev) he can be prime minister.’

“ ‘Excellent, excellent idea, yes,’” Clinton said, then laughed.

“We have a process, yes.”

The former U.S. secretary of state, wife of former U.S. president Bill Clinton and possible Democratic candidate for president in 2016 served up the jokes during a Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Clinton also spoke about the world’s fight against Islamist terrorists and being a grandmother, among other topics, and laughed at references to a possible run for president.
