WATCH ABOVE: Bump, ram, “love tap” – call it what you want. Tourists were certainly given a lasting memory recently off the coast of Hawaii.
TORONTO – A boat full of whale-watching tourists in Hawaii were given one heck of a memory when a whale rammed them in the open ocean.
Ryan Nap was on the boat, off the coast of Lahaina, Maui, and captured the incident in a video posted to YouTube Thursday.

“While on a whale-watching tour in Maui, our tour guides stopped the boat and shut down the engines so we could hear the whale “songs” on their hydrophone,” Nap said in the video’s YouTube description.
When a mother and calf appeared just before heading back to shore, people on the boat were understandably excited.
“We thought it would be one last photo opportunity as they headed in our direction,” Rhode Island resident Jessica Napolitano told KHON.
But instead of holding a camera with two hands, folks were forced to brace for impact as the larger whale came close enough to bump the boat before swimming underneath.

An excited voice in the video can be heard yelling, “This is so awesome!”
