3 things you need to know about Mercier Bridge lane closures

MONTREAL — Transports Quebec is warning there will be lane closures on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge between Montreal and the South Shore this week in order to repair its steel structure and light fixtures.

“No traffic will be allowed towards the South Shore. Only both eastbound lanes (towards Montreal) will remain opened to traffic,” the corporation that manages the bridge noted on its website.

It also said that weather conditions could affect the period of time needed to complete the work.

Here are three things you need to know about the closures: 

  • The lane closures will affect commuters headed towards the South Shore.
  • One South-Shore-bound lane will be closed from Monday, Jan. 12 to Wednesday, Jan. 14 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Both South-Shore-bound lanes were suppose to be closed over the weekend but work wrapped up early and they are now open.

Quebec’s Transport Ministry is suggesting that drivers plan their trips by visiting www.quebec511.info.
