Water main break on St. Antoine causes commuter headaches

MONTREAL — Police have blocked off Vinet and St. Antoine Streets due to a water main break near Atwater on Thursday morning.

Firefighters and city workers were on the scene, working in extreme conditions, as temperatures in Montreal were at -27° C Thursday morning.

The corner of Atwater and St. Antoine seemed to be the apparent source of the leak.

The streets around the area were described as a virtual lake, filled with several inches of quickly freezing water and slush.
