Actor dies after collapsing on stage during play rehearsal

TORONTO — An actor who appeared in movies like Skyfall and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace collapsed and died this week during a rehearsal for a stage play in London.

Kan Bonfils (who also used the first name Khan) was preparing to open the Craft Theatre production of Dante’s Inferno: A Modern Retelling at The Rag Factory when he collapsed. Director Rocky Rodriguez Jr. performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

A cause of death was not immediately known. Bonfils was 42.

“His sudden loss is a tragedy and he will be sorely missed,” the theatre company tweeted.

Bonfils had several stage credits and also appeared in movies like Tomorrow Never Dies, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and Batman Begins.

The play’s opening has been delayed until Saturday with Bonfils friend Ryan Prescott stepping into the role.
